Lowell Stops Winthrop, 8-0, For Second Win

Lowell House won its last House football title in 1975. It took the Bellboys seven years to win their next game, an 8-0 victory over Leverett last week. Most figured it would be another seven years before their next victory. The Winthrop House squad was counting on it.

But the smaller and less experienced gridders from Lowell marched into yesterday's showdown determined to win and marched out with an astonishing 8-0 upset.

"You're damn right I'm happy." Lowell Player Coach Tom Lamont said afterwards. It's about time."

In yesterday's other House football game Kirkland (1-1) pinned a 14-7 defeat on dunster Mather, scoring on an option pass with one minute left in the game. Behind by 7-6 with fourth down and the ball on the Dunster Mather eight Kerkland running back Bernard Good in found an open Gordon Aderson in the end none.

In Tuesday's games a currier forfeil raised south House's record to 2-0, Eliot stayed tied as division leader with Soho, defeating Quincy (0-2) 20-0

Led by rookie quarterback Wayne Miller, Lowell scored on its first possession of the day, Miller scampered 10 years to cap 30 yord drive and then ran in the extra point convension to score the game's only points.
