BERKELEY, Calif.--"When you rise...condomize," was one of the slogans marking national condom day at the University of California Berkeley last month.
The purpose of the annual event is to educate students on the benefits of using condoms and to collect signatures for a petition to permit radio and television stations to advertise condoms.
The day's activities included a water-filled condom throw, and the release of 440 helium-filled condoms to the cheers of the crowd.
One student said, "With a large crowd and everyone laughing about it people feel more at ease, otherwise I doubt many people would walk up to a table to find out more about condoms."
