Harvard Students Still Fare Well At Law Schools

By Gregory C. Ridgley

Harvard students enjoy a high level of popularity in the law school application derby, with acceptance rates above 60 per cent at some large schools, according to the most recent data compiled by the Office of Career Services and Off-Campus Learning (OCS-OCL).

Made up only of information voluntarily submitted by undergraduates applying to law schools this year, the study recorded, for example, 47 acceptances out of 77 applications to the New York University Law School, while 38 out of 79 students were accepted at the University of Chicago.

Higher and Higher

Even higher acceptance ratios appeared at schools with lower numbers of Harvard applicants. Boston University accepted 18 out of 25, while UCLA law school accepted more than 87 per cent. The law schools of Boston College (13/19), Fordham (7/10) and The University of Southern California (5/6) showed high rates of acceptance of Harvard undergraduates.

In contrast, Harvard Law School accepted less than 40 per cent of its Harvard applicants and the Yale rate stayed at approximately 25 per cent.
