Peking Complex

It has already been called the "Harvard of the Orient." At least that is what the organizers of a new Peking medical complex, who visited the Medical School last year, hope to create.

"The Chinese want to be able to attract the very best teachers and students, and they hope the Capital Medical Center will become a center of great intellectual achievement," Dr. Charles Sanders, director of Massachusetts General Hospital, and one of three private coordinators of the project in the U.S., said yesterday.

Dr. Daniel Fetterman, dean for students and alumni, arranged a one-day visit to the Medical School for the delegation, including meetings with science faculty and administration officials.

"Our impression was that the Chinese had a very profitable time here," Dr. Fetterman said yesterday. "Many of the generation who came to visit had minorties to American medical education and were able to recall prior experiences," he added.
