WACO, Tex.--The entire news staff of the Baylor University student newspaper, The Baylor Lariat, resigned March 4 to protest the dismissal of the paper's three editors.

Too Hard and Too Much

Baylor's board of publications voted the day before to remove the editors after an editorial appeared accusing university President Abner McCall of "smugness" and calling his administration "arrogant."

The editorial criticized a threat by McCall to expel any Baylor woman who posed for Playboy Magazine, which had announced plans to print a feature about colleges like Baylor.

Don Williams, an associate journalism professor, said the administration had threatened to fire him because he supported the editors.

The board of publications, in addition to removing the three editors, suspended publication for one week. Eighteen of the 32 staff members have resigned, leaving students only in the advertising and production departments.
