The Southern Africa Solidarity Committee (SASC) is sending $200 to the Zimbabwe Patriotic Front to help support the Front's national elections at the end of this month.

The money, raised by the film series SASC held last summer, is part of a larger donation of perhaps $1000 by the Boston Coalition for the Liberation of Southern Africa. The coalition is sending the money to the Patriotic Front's New York headquarters this week.

The Zimbabwe Patriotic Front is a coalition of the Zimbabwe African National Union and the Zimbabwe African People's Union. The two organizations are supporting Robert Mugabe and Joshua Nkomo, respectively, in the elections.

Mugabe and Nkomo, leaders of the Zimbabwe liberation movement for more than ten years, "represent the true interests of the majority of the people of Zimbabwe," Matthew Rothschild '80, a member of SASC, said yesterday.
