Missionary Conference

About 250 people gathered at the University Lutheran Church Friday and Saturday to discuss missionary work.

Urbana Onward, a conference sponsored jointly by the Harvard-Radcliffe Christian Fellowship and the Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF), a nationwide umbrella organization for Christian student groups, focused on Bible study, practical discussions about becoming a missionary and group prayer.

Participants, many of whom attended the biennial IVCF Urbana conference at the University of Illinosiia December, represented non-sectarian Christian fellowships from colleges in the Boston area.

Ada Lum, a well-known missionary who has worked throughout the world for the past 18 years, spoke to the conference on Friday night about the importance of faithfulness, saying, "God is raising up a great Christian army in the United States."

Before her speech, Lum said gatherings such as Urbana, which drew about 16,500 college students and missionaries, and its extension, Urbana Onward, give participants "an intelligent presentation of what's going on around the world with missionary work."
