Former Harvard hockey star Alexander H. Bright '19 died in a Waltham nursing home Monday. He was 82.
Bright, for whom Harvard's Bright Hockey Center is named, played hockey for the Crimson and later as a semi-pro for the Boston Athletic Association. He was a member of the 1936 U.S. Olympic ski team, and was one of the first American finishers in the downhill events that year in Germany.
Jack Reardon, director of the department of Athletics, said yesterday that "Bright was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of Harvard and Harvard athletics I had ever met."
A memorial service is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. in Memorial Church.
