Seven Hospitalized After Brown Fight

By Compiled FROM College newspapers

PROVIDENCE, R.I.--At least seven persons were hospitalized and two arrested after a brawl last weekend outside Alumnae Hall at Brown University, where a non-residential Black fraternity was holding a dance.

George Black, acting security director, said, "There were some problems as far as Black-white issues were involved," but he declined to say if the fighting was racially motivated.

More than one dozen persons fought with knives, clubs and chemical Mace, and dozens of policemen responded, the Brown Daily Herald reported.

Two Brown students were treated at Rhode Island Hospital for club wounds and the brother of a student, visiting for the weekend, was treated for a stab wound.
