The women's squash team kept its unbeaten streak alive as it traveled to Williams College Saturday to pick up a 5-2 win, the sixth straight this season.
Strength in Depth
The depth of the Crimson racquet-women proved decisive as they dropped only two matches during the afternoon. Playing at number one, Becky Tung lost by a disappointing 1-3, as concentration problems continued to plague her. At the second spot was Sarah Mleczko, who came from a 0-2 deficit to tie the match at 2-all, only to lose the next game and the match in an exhausting but well-played endurance contest.
Straight Sets
The racquetwomen wen on to win their next five matches without dropping a game, in an exact replica of last weekend's 5-2 defeat of Brown. Playing at number three, veteran Margo McGlade cruised to an easy 3-0 victory.
"I played pretty well, I guess. I played a freshman who was nervous and inexperienced. She was slow moving side to side, so I just played on her weakness," explained McGlade.
Cake Walk
Crimson freshmen Lisa Harrison (number four) and Jackie Corrigan (number five) won their matches effortlessly, continuing to turn in strong performances. Rounding out the team were captain Jenny Stone and Courtney Stimpson, following suit with straight set wins.
Depth Charge
"We have a really strong, deep team this year. It's the depth that prevails in most of our matches," McGlade said.
Traveling along with the varsity was the J.V. team, also defeating Williams to boost its record to a perfect 3-0.
