8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
The Harvard Corporation last month approved tenure for two associate professors to Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government.
Mark H. Moore was named Guggenheim Professor of Criminal Justice, and David A. Wise has become the Stambaugh Professor of Empirical Analysis.
The chair in criminal justice is the first concrete component of a proposed research center for the study of policing, legal issues, corrections and courts, Ira A. Jackson '70, associate dean of the K. School, said recently.
For two Harvard professors to be granted tenure is "unusual in a faculty that is not growing," Edith M. Stokey, secretary of the K-School, said last week. But recent expansions in the K-School have led to a larger faculty.
She added their tenure is "a reflection of the quality of the people."
Wise said yesterday he is pleased about his appointment to tenure, especially as a recognition for his work.
Wise has done much of his research in econometrics and human resource economics. He has recently written on the demand for housing, affirmative action, the demand for physicians' services, and income maintenance.
Moore has recently researched drug abuse, gun control, organized crime control, analysis of implementation problems and public management. He has also published several articles on regulation the heroin market.
