To the Editors of The Crimson:

Rarely have I seen more perceptive, on the money and downright lyrical reporting than that which appeared in Monday's Crimson (Sports Roundup...Other Action).

As someone who has spent the better part of his professional life as a reporter, let me say that I was impressed, nay, awed at the way in which your reporter captured the intensity, majesty and viscosity of last Saturday's Crimson-Nieman tilt with the Soc. Dept.

I particularly like the part about Nieman fellow Frank Van Riper being the "big gun" with his "pair of towering triples." Never has the mantle of sports cliche fit an individual better. My mother thanks you. Yours for bigger and better journalism,   Frank [Big Gun] Van Riper

Note: The Crimson wishes to apologize for its erroneous description of Mr. Van Riper.   --Sports Ed.
