Commencement Visitors Here; Hotels Jammed

By Richard F. Strasser

The annual rite of Harvard Commencement is responsible for another yearly event--the clogging of area hotels with parents and alumni.

A reservations clerk at the Holiday Inn on Mass Ave said yesterday that the hotel was "definitely sold out." He added that it has been booked since last year, when the hotel started accepting reservations for this year's Commencement.

"Quite a few people have been asking for reservations in the past few months. We're already taking reservations for next year," he said.

Reservations clerks for the Sheraton Commander and Copley Plaza Hotels said yesterday they were also booked solid a year in advance.

Last Hope

Many seniors whose parents are coming to Commencement said they made hotel reservations quite a long time ago.

"We made them back in October, and I assume they're still there," Linda Lowry '79 said yesterday.

In the Streets

Even underclassmen might consider making their reservations soon--a clerk at the Harvard Motor House said yesterday the hotel is now booked through Commencement 1982.
