RHINEHART!

This is a complaint.

Apparently none of the recent classes know what this name means.

The legend is that one Rhinehart, who had no friends, lived in the Yard. So he would run outside and yell his name, then dash up to his room and answer the call.

Over the subsequent years, in the Spring when the juices were flowing and everybody was bored with studying, someone would start the call in the Yard. Immediately it resounded throughout and was the rallying cry for, shall I say, "simple mayhem."

There is a story that one alumnus was alone and lonely in Shepard's hotel in Cairo. He let out the yell in the lobby and was immediately surrounded by Harvards.

Please try to bring back this tradition. John H. Marshall'29
