To the Editors:

I would like to clarify the reasons for my concern with the kind of event sponsored by the Student Assembly at Boston-Boston.

It has been my very painful duty to be involved in several cases where students have attended places in Boston and been injured and, in one case, fatally stabbed. In such cases we as a community have asked ourselves what could have been done to prevent it. The safeguards proposed to the Student Assembly are intended to help provide a maximum of protection and safety.

I would wish they were not needed but experience has taught us otherwise. Archie C. Epps III   Dean of Students
