The Harvard Democratic Club elected a new slate of candidates last night after a stormy meeting.
The four candidates elected to the top positions in the club--led by Brad F. Artson '81 who was elected president--vowed to "bring the club together" after the heated meeting. Some club members said, though, that they thought the divisions caused by what they saw as a leadership fight might "last for months."

The candidates, many of whom promised to undertake a membership drive, sponsor a speaker series, and beef up fundraising efforts, ran largely unopposed. Some club members charged that there had been efforts to keep potential candidates from running.
Collin Clinton '81 told the 60 club members assembled in Science Center B that his roommate was "railroaded out of running for office."
Artson denied the charge, saying "anyone is eligible to run for office."

Steve Rosston '81 was elected vice-president and Michael Mills '82 was elected secretary. Members at large are Nina Gardner '82, John Driscoll '82, Guy Erwin '80, Alexander Bok '81, and Brian Dunmore '80.
A freshman coalition of club members had earlier announced plans to "reform" the club. Freshman members said last night that they had since "decided they were in basic disagreement" with the club's members.
