Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Public furor over the operation of massage parlors in Cambridge has evaporated since police closed one such establishment in East Cambridge in October.
"We haven't heard a thing about the whole problem since the incident," Bernard Flynn, assistant to Cambridge Mayor Thomas W. Danehy, said yesterday.
Cambridge Police Captain Anthony Paolillo said yesterday his department has also stopped receiving complaints about massage parlors. He added that a number of the establishments are still in business.
"We are going to try to get them on licensing violations when they are up for review January 1," Paolillo said.
On October 30, Cambridge Police raided "Le Club," a parlor located at 79 Cambridge St., after a number of people protested its opening. The Cambridge City Council had passed an ordinance restricting the operation and licensing of massage parlors in the city one day earlier.
Paolillo said the 11 arrests made during the raid were not related to the new ordinance.
