South House, Quincy Stay Unbeaten

An 11th hour scoring drive, capped by a clutch Joe Auteri to John Cheney touchdown pass in the game's final seconds, gave undefeated South House a 6-0 victory over Eliot yesterday in House football action.

Earlier in the afternoon, Quincy House maintained its unblemished record, using a strong running game to defeat Leverett 12-3.

Instead of playing with characteristic precision. SoHo's offensive Auteri and Co. were stymied by penalties and fumbles and couldn't reach paydirt for the first 39 minutes.

Officials called back a Jim Pelgrift touchdown because of an illegal motion penalty, and a 55-yard Bob Tedaldi romp went to waste because of a Nick Golden fumble on the 23.

The SoHo defense, which has yet to yield any points this year, picked up whatever slack the offense left as it completely shut off any Eliot threat.

SoHo linebacker Rob McCormisch said the successful last minute drive was due to "a ballsy offense and a keg of beer" waiting on the sidelines.

With the offensive line, led by Chris Dilworth, Chip Wallace, and Jeff Levy opening up big holes, Q-World running backs Jim Rosenfeld, Steve Nicholas, and Chuck Miller amassed more than 300 vards on the ground, en route to their win.

Quincy's first t.d. came at the end of a long 90-yd. drive, with Nicholas's 50-yd. run providing the score.

Q-World's second tally, coming late in the fourth quarter, was all Rosenfeld and Miller, with Rosenfeld finally taking the ball in with a 13-yd. run of brute strength.

Quincy and South House, both undefeated, will clash next Thursday for the championship. Q-World clearly anticipates the meeting; marching slowly off the field, they chanted "South...South...South..."
