University Food Services saved about $8000 the week after picture I.D. cards were introduced. Benjamin H. Walcott, assistant director of Food Services, said yesterday.

The number of meals served in a week dropped from 90,000 to tewer than 82,300 an 8.6 per cent decrease in meals that cost the University about $1 a piece. Walcott said. "It seems to indicate people were getting free meals before," he added.

Because of the positive results of the picture I.D. cards. the University will definitely issue them next year. Stephen W. Homer, director of student receivables, said yesterday.
