Close to 20 per cent of Harvard undergraduates--an increase of 3- to 5- per cent over last year--will not be allowed to register immediately today because they have not paid their term bills.
"People are coming in all the time with their payments," Larry Renfro of the Office of Fiscal Services said yesterday. He estimated that 1200 students would not pay their bills until after they receive a "red dot" on the registration packet.
"Usually, miscommunications between parents and students cause the most problems," Renfro said, adding "we are easily prepared to deal with the problem."
Renfro advised students who find the red dot on their package to consult with the Fiscal Services table at registration. "They can make payment there, or they can come to the Fiscal Services office," he said.
