Although the people down at WHRB may not be able to come up with anything quite as apropos of reading period as their recent Alienation Orgy (featuring "songs of isolation, disgust and boredom"), they have once again planned a strong series of orgies to fill out the rest of reading period.

On Sunday WHRB will broadcast their 20th annual Spring Folk Festival. The line-up, featuring several of Boston's best folk musicians, should make tuning-in worthwhile--but barring bad weather, you would do better to make the trip to Sever Quad and catch at least some of the eight-hour festival live. The performers will include Guy Van Duser, Dorothy Carter, Tina Welsch, Pete Kara, Joanne Cipolla and Strings Attached; the first set begins at noon.

The Cecil Taylor Orgy begins on Thursday May 4 at 6 a.m.--an unfortunate time since the jazz pianist's five-odd fans at Harvard may all be asleep and the people who make a habit of getting up at six may not want to shatter their routine by listening to the sometimes abrasive music of one of the foremost innovators of modern jazz. (Later in the day might be a good time to get an introduction to Taylor's work.)

The Louis Armstrong Orgy, featuring Satchmo's work in the '20s, will be broadcast Monday, also beginning at 6 a.m. (I still hold that people who regularily get up at six are for the most part dangerous and will probably not listen to either Taylor or Armstrong.)

The John Cotrane Orgy--no excuse for missing this one. It begins Wednesday afternoon at three, rides on 95.3, and features the greatest. Period.
