Southern Africa Solidarity Committee presents Sacco and Vanzetti, Friday and Saturday at 7:30, 10 in the Science Center. It'll cost you $1.50, but a) it's a great movie, and b) the money's going to a real good cause.

Mean Streets--This is the film that made Martin Scorsese. A rough, startling, excellent glimpse of the lives of a couple of small-time Italian hoods in the Bronx. Robert de Niro sparkles as Johnny Boy, the idiotic, irresponsible galoot who drags his nominally smarter buddy, Harvey Keitel, into some big trouble. This film catches the pulse of The City better than almost any other film of the '70s. A must.

Saturday Night Fever--You mean you haven't seen it? Good for you. But you'll get another chance this weekend at the Harvard Square Theater. Travolta will be there. So will his pelvis. Oh boy.

Dear Inspector--A delightful, if not too deep, French film about a female detective, a big-ass murder case, and an incipient love affair. Philippe de Broca's first film in a long while is rather pleasing, even if the mystery suffers some for the sake of the romantic comedy. Philippe Noiret and Annie Girardot make a good pair. A little thin, but a lot of fun.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail--Remember, a few years ago, how funny these guys were? They still are, kids, and this is their best movie. Watch out for killer bunnies, shrubberies, and "Tim."

Revenge of the Pink Panther--To be perfectly honest, we haven't seen this one yet, but we can imagine that it's just Peter Sellers up to his old tricks again. M. Clouseau on the trail of something or other, with all the attendant mania. Sellers is a very funny man who doesn't know how to quit while he's ahead.

Heaven Can Wait--Warren Beatty does it all in this rather stupid movie. Our sources say it's enjoyable, but incredibly dumb...up to you. If you're thinking of reincarnation, you'll love this.

Sgt. Peppers...--No, we haven't seen this yet, either, and we don't want to. We're old enough to remember the '60s, and this movie offends us. Peter Frampton, get lost.

Jaws II, The Swarm, and Grease--Our sources also tell us that these three films, none of which have any redeeming value (or even prurient interest) of their own, are being combined by a Hollywood genius. The plot? Simple--a gang of singing, dancing bees takes on a gang of man-eating sharks wearing denim jackets and greased-back incisors for the rights to Laguna Beach. Or something like that.
