Regatta a Two-House Show

Traditional intramural powerhouses Kirkland and Eliot dominated the house crew regatta yesterday morning, combining to capture all six final races.

Eliot House led the men's competition, edging a surprising Currier House team in the men's A race and pushing past Kirkland in the men's B battle. The Kirkland women mirrored the Eliot men's achievments, winning both the A and B women's battles. Kirkland also finished first in the men's C final.

In the men's Afinal Eliot and Quincy jumped out to an early half-length lead before Currier powered through them to lead by a little open water at 800 meters. At 1500, with 200 meters left, Currier seemed to be gliding to victory but a crab stalled the Quad eight, more Eliot caught them, and won by 2.9 seconds. The rest of the pack crossed the line at least 6.9 seconds behind Currier.

Quincy grabbed an early edge in the women's A race but by the time they settled to normal racing cadence the Kirkland crew blew past everyone and proceeded to win by 14.6 seconds.
