An exhibit of documents, letters, underground publications and photographs from the Polish human rights movement opened at 1737 Cambridge St. this week.
Included in the exhibit are copies of speeches and letters of protest from groups of Polish citizens that range from intellectuals and students to lawyers and the Catholic Church.
Smuggled out of Poland in small packages, "Behind the Facade" first appeared in Venice last year with several prominent Eastern European dissidents in attendance. It has since shown in London and New York.
The human rights movement in Poland has gained prominence in the last two years in the aftermath of government repression to quell strikes that erupted nation wide in 1976 in response to higher food prices.
