'Women and the Law' Journal Will Be Released on Monday

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The first issue of an annual periodical on women and the law, published by Law School students, will be released on Monday in conjunction with Celebration 25, commemorating the first graduating class containing women.

The first issue, 175 pages long, will consist entirely of articles written by outside contributors on topics ranging from women's athletics to the Equal Rights Amendment. Future issues will contain articles, notes, comments and book reviews written by students, Carol Schrager, an editor-in-chief, said yesterday.

The 20-member editorial board and 40 other staff people have been working on the publication for over a year. "The need for the journal was realized when plans were begun for Celebration 25," Schrager said.

Although the journal received a grant from the Law School Association it is now dependent upon individual contributions.

Celebration 25

Celebration 25 commemorates the Class of '53 containing the first 12 women graduates. The activities begin Monday and continue through Friday.

The week of events will include panel discussions on "Lifestyles of Professional Women," and "Women in Prison," a bike tour of scenic feminist and legal landmarkets, and a men's bake sale for the "advancement of women," Schrager said.

Most events will be open to the public except for some pre-registered events Friday evening and Saturday.
