The Crimson Rugby Club attracted a hardy crowd of 200 to Soldiers Field Saturday, and it responded with an equally hardy performance, sweeping all four of its games to win both divisions of the second annual Rugby Beanpot Tournament.
One of the highlights of the all-day tournament came when the four participating teams--Harvard, B.U., Thfts and B.C.--took an hour off for lunch, just long enough to polish off six kegs of beer.
Clean Sweep
The Crimson began its domination early, and kept the opposition in check through the afternoon. Starting with an 18-10 win over Tuffs, the Crimson a team then went on o trounce the A team of the defending champs B.C.
B's Whale
The B team had an equally impressive day, shutting out B.U., 23-0, and then beating Tuffs, 16-3,
The Tufts B team faced a grueling battle against B.C. in its first game, winning in overtime. It was still no match for the Crimson B's.
Harvard and B.C. also had enough rugby enthusiasts for a C team game, in which some impressive freshmen played a large part in a 9-0 Crimson victory.
