Battered Icemen Travel to Hanover

It will be a dejected, tired, and distraught Harvard hockey team that faces Dartmouth at Thompson Arena tonight, but look at the bright side, the Crimson doesn't have the pressure of the ECAC playoffs to worry about anymore. Well, almost.

Providence pummeled Northeastern last night at the Boston Arena, 8-5. Translated, that means that only a miracle or divine intervention on the Harvard power play for the next three "must-win" games will get the icemen into post-season play. That, and, of course, a Providence loss to Boston College come Friday.

But those boys from Hanover are the, foes tonight, and for Dartmouth it hasn't been much of a winter to kick up your L.L. Bean heels over.

Weekend losses to the Friars and Brown bopped the Woodsmen out of the playoffs, and with only two games left and a 9-12-0 slate in Division One, the best the Green can do is finish a game below .500.

Captain Paul Sawyer and junior Mark Culhane are the scoring leaders for Dartmouth, while freshman Jim Jankowski has been erratic in goal. And in case it slipped your mind, Dartmouth frustrated Harvard in the season-opener, 5-4, on a Don O'Brien overtime tally.
