Four assailants injured a Harvard student and stole his wallet, containing $35, at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday at the corner of Mass Ave and Plympton St., University police said yesterday.

The student suffered small cuts and a laceration on his skull, requiring treatment by University Health Services, Saul L. Chafin, chief of University police, said. Chafin refused to identify the student.

The attackers, described by police as three white males and one white female, repeatedly punched and kicked the student, knocking his head against a parked car before fleeing the scene, one witness said.

Both Cambridge and University police officials said they were investigating the incident.
