RUS Gives Money To Organizations Geared To Women

The Radcliffe Union of Students (RUS) last night unanimously approved the recommendations of its committee on loans and grants concerning the organization's contributions to various women's groups at Harvard.

The portion of the RUS budget designated for organizational loans and grants totals $5250. The group alotted $4430 of the total to seven different activities. The money left over will be used to support new groups which may require funding later in the year, Heather Pavlik '80, secretary of RUS, said last night.

RUS gave money to such groups as the Association of Black Radcliffe Women and the Asian American Women's Association, as well as the Harvard-Radcliffe Dance Company, Black Star Theatre, the Radcliffe Choral Society and Seventh Sister.

Not an Endorsement

Erica Rosenberg '81, a member of the committee on loans and grants, said giving a group money does not imply that RUS has endorsed its political views. It is "just an attempt to allow them to air those views," she added.

RUS also decided to sponsor a traveling colloquia on women's studies in addition to a dinner series on "Is there life after Radcliffe?." both of which will begin in December.
