The Freshman Council elected its officers for the 1978-79 school year Tuesday night.

Michael Mills '82, the new moderator of the body, said yesterday he hopes the council will be more responsive to the freshman class than in the past.

"We hope we can represent them more vocally. Harvard doesn't have a reputation of being strong in that respect. We want to be a reflection of the class's needs, socially, academically and administratively," he said.

The Council plans to organize dances, parties and freshman trips, conduct CHUL and CUE elections later this month, and compile a guide to choosing Houses in the spring, Mills said.

The other officers of the Council include Steve Powell '82, CHUL representative; Gwen Gorman '82, treasurer; and Frank Wei '82 and Kathy Kelley '82, secretaries.
