The precipitous shift in the weather Monday failed to unsettle officials responsible for the preparation of campus grounds for Commencement exercises.

Temperatures plummeted to a record low of 35 degrees, forcing the University to turn the heat back on in dorms and classrooms. Up to a foot of snow fell in areas of Boston, felling power lines and endangering the state's apple crop.
