Med School Accepts 41 Undergrads

By Deborah Gelin

Next year's class at the Medical School will contain approximately the same number of Harvard-Radcliffe undergraduates as in previous years, a Medical School admissions officer said yesterday.

The Medical School and the Joint Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology has accepted 41 Harvard undergraduates, Tania Friedman, assistant to the director of admissions, said. The two programs accepted a combined total of 165 students this year. Last year, they accepted 44 Harvard undergraduates.

Friedman said final figures are not available since the Med School always takes at least ten additional students from its waiting list.

Martha P. Leape, health careers adviser at the Office of Career Services and Off-Campus Learning, said yesterday the large portion of Harvard students accepted to the Med School is the result of "an extra effort made by the admissions officers to gather information about Harvard applicants.
