A group of Dunster House students and tutors are attempting to raise $3000 to build a House sauna, Jerome M. Culp, a founding member of the Dunster Sauna Club, said Wednesday.
"We plan to convert Dunster's basement janitor's room into the proposed sauna area--already down there are two showers and bathroom facilities." James A. Merolla '78, an organizer of the project, said Wednesday.
The proposed sauna would accommodate approximately ten people at a time for 15 minute periods, Merolla said. Members would establish co-ed and non co-ed hours, he said.
"We're going to have a guest policy for students from other Houses," Merolla added.
Dunster residents will be eligible to buy a one-year membership to the sauna for $10, or a founding membership for $50, Merolla said. The Dunster House Committee will contribute $600 to the project, he added.
If all goes as planned, the sauna will be completed by November 15.
