Article Sparks Protest

An article opposing the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) that appeared last week in "thursday," a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) student newspaper, sparked protest from Third World student groups this Monday.

The article, written in anticipation of a lecture last weekend by Shafik Alhout, the Chief United Nations delegate of the PLO, called his expected visit "a moral offense" and condemned the PLO for their terrorist activities.

Students from five Third World organizations posted and distributed flyers around MIT Monday encouraging students to "protest `thursday's' racist issue."

"The tentacles of the Zionist establishment, which already dominate over the public media in the United States, seem now to have enveloped MIT's independent community newspaper," the flyers stated.
