In your December 17 issue, Gay Seidman wrote an article which gives the impression that the Faculty of Arts and Sciences voted specific calendar changes and new dates for the school year at its last Faculty Meeting. To set the record straight, what the Faculty voted were not specific dates, but rather a recommendation to the Governing Boards that in principle the academic calendar for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences be moved ahead one week beginning in 1977. The actual dates for the opening of the school year, as well as for any part of it, such as Reading Period, were to be worked out at a later date. David A. Hartnett   Secretary
