Letter to the Cube

Having participated in the Harvard varsity baseball program for the past three seasons, we feel we possess the genuine knowledge of the game to accurately comment on this past spring.

As Casey Stengell so aptly analyzed the game of baseball, "You need the horses to pull the wagon." For a struggling young team, consisting of only two returning starters and 18 freshmen and sophomores, mistakes were expected and most assuredly occurred.

To deposit the blame, however, for an entire season on one individual shows little baseball knowledge. One season does not dictate the decline of an entire baseball program, a program which in the past six seasons includes four Eastern titles, and three trips to the National Championships.

As surely as the sun will rise tomorrow, Harvard baseball will return to its winning ways. Barry M. Cronin '76, Captain   Kevin M. Carr '76
