Swim Team Picks Two New Captains

By Francis J. Connolly

Junior butterfly specialist George Keim and sophomore backstroker Kevin O'Connell will lead the Varsity swimming team as co-captains next season, Coach Ray Essick announced at Tuesday's annual team awards dinner.

Keim is the defending ECAC champion in the 100-yd. butterfly, while O'Connell was the only member of the squad to represent Harvard at this year's NCAA championships.

Essick said yesterday that he expects Keim and O'Connell to provide more of the strong leadership that senior Mark Depman, this year's captain, lent the team.

"You're only as good as the people who lead you," Essick said, adding that he anticipates a strong showing next season from the nucleus of the team that will remain after graduation.
