Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Smoke, pouring from a burnt-out lighting fixture on the fifth floor of Matthews Hall, drew five Cambridge fire engines into the Yard last night shortly after 11 p.m.
A student called the Cambridge Fire Department at 11:05 p.m. and said he smelled something burning. The fire trucks pulled in front of Matthews at 11:07 p.m. The firemen found smoke, but there were no flames.
'I Was There'
W.C. Burris Young '55, associate dean of freshmen, who remained at the scene until the trucks drove off at 11:30 p.m., commended the Harvard Police and the Cambridge Fire Department for their effective cooperation.
"There was a bad fire in Matthews in 1969," Young said. In that fire five suites were lost, but no one was hurt, he said.
