'Cliffe Racquetwomen Extend Winning Streak at Tufts, 5-2

By Marc M. Sadowsky>

The Radcliffe racquetwomen started the new semester off right Monday afternoon, downing Tufts at Medford, 5-2. Although the last match the team played was in December, the long layoff apparently had no effect on the squad's playing.

Susie Handy, Radcliffe's captain and leading player, handled her opponent easily, winning 3-1.

Julia Moore, at the number two position, retained her unblemished record against Tufts, beating her opponent, 3-0. Moore was one of the few racquetwomen to get some practice during Christmas vacation playing at her home in Atlanta.

At number three, Susanne deSola continued her winning streak, but she did lose two games in the process of downing her Tufts foe 3-2.

At numbers five and seven, the Crimson racquetwomen came out on top without losing a game, as both Susan Hadsel and Eve Coligor defeated their opponents, 3-0. The only losses for Radcliffe came at the fourth and sixth positions. Emmi Levin dropped her match, 3-0, while number six player Liz Schafer won the first two games of her match before losing the next three.
