Student Hit

A Harvard student who was hit by a car at the intersection of Memorial Drive and DeWolfe St. shortly before midnight Tuesday was listed in stable condition yesterday afternoon at Mt. Auburn Hospital.

Peter Daub '77, a Leverett House resident, fractured his leg and lost three teeth when a car that was unable to stop on the rain-slickened pavement struck him.

"I feel fine," Daub said yesterday. "I just want to go back to classes."

Earlier in the evening a motorcycle driven by an MIT student collided with a 1975 Buick at the same location. Robert G. Mudge, coordinator of records and communications for the University Police Department, said yesterday "a lot of vehicle accidents" occur at this intersection.

At present a blinking red light and a walk light are used for traffic control at the corner.

A Leverett House resident who arrived at the scene of the accident moments after it happened said yesterday the Harvard police did little to help Daub until Cambridge Fire Department rescue vehicle arrived 10 to 15 minutes after the accident. "For a big city it's disgraceful that it takes 15 minutes for an ambulance to arrive," the Leverett resident said
