CUE Meets

By Mark D. Gearan

In response to Faculty Council criticism of the student course evaluation project, the Committee on Undergraduate Education (CUE) voted yesterday to form a subcommittee to make a presentation to the council on the benefits of the project to both Faculty members and students.

Francis M. Pipkin, associate dean of the Faculty for the College, said last night that the CUE subcommittee will research the course evaluation questionnaire and prepare a report for the Faculty Council meeting in March.

The CUE course evaluation project came under fire at the January 20 meeting of the Faculty Council. Many professors questioned whether the University should sponsor a project critical of its teachers.

Alberta Arthurs, dean of undergraduate affairs and a CUE member, said last week the committee distributed questionaires to more courses this year and has "modified the questionaire to make it more helpful."
