Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
Neither rain nor mud nor gloom nor day kept the junior varsity cross country team from its appointed rounds yesterday as it circled Franklin Park and defeated its Northeastern counterparts, 21-36.
The fleetest of all on the miserable Wednesday afternoon was Harvard freshman Peter Levine who set a course record in his first intercollegiate race. "It was a course record," though, according to Harvard coach Bill McCurdy, "because it was the first time we ran on this course."
Northeastern freshman standout Kurt Stoole, who ran a strong race, finished second. The Crimson's Ed Sheehan came in third in 16:53 while Jim Kiggen covered the course in 17:05 and was fourth overall.
The two other runners for Harvard that gained points were Dave Sullivan and Dave Atkin. They went around a muddy Franklin Park in 17:10 and 17:22 respectively.
