The Harvard harriers will face traditional rival Northeastern on Wednesday in a completely untraditional meet format. Because of the new NCAA rules, Harvard [the home squad] will only be allowed to run 11 varsity harriers while Northeastern can only let 9 runners compete. Harvard coach Bill McCurdy usually lets dozens of runners race in meets to give experience to a lot of people.

The JVs will also run tomorrow afternoon.

Seeking to better last year's record, the Crimson soccer team opens its season against MIT tomorrow afternoon at the Business School field.

Preseason injuries to several players including last fall's star Lyman Bullard will slow the squad for a while but the team should be near full strength within a week, in time to meet a strong Wesleyan squad next Wednesday.

The Harvard football team opens Saturday afternoon against Holy Cross at Soldier's Field. While several key areas like quarterback and the offensive line are inexperienced, the Crimson has a good corps of backs and a strong defensive backfield returning.

Harvard has two non-league games before starting its Ivy campaign against Columbia on October 11.
