Sure, it was kind of cool last week, but don't let that deceive you; It's getting to be sweltering time again. Harvard rooms are designed for the winter, not the summer, so your air stagnant. You can always go lie around in the Yard but it's hot there too and, well, what you really need is air conditioning. So here's where you can find it.
Robinson Hall. The History Department library, in the corner of the Yard next to sever and Canaday, is the best place to cool off; It's two stories, uncrowded, with lots of soft easy chairs and good lighting. Open 9 to 5.
Holyoke center. The whole building is air conditioned, but It's hard to find a good place to hang out there. You can sit in the information Center on the ground floor for a while, but not on an all-day You could also try to find, out what's on the second floor of the building, the one where there's no elevator stop, If you figure it out let me know what's up there.
The Documents Room. Where all the microfilm machines are, in the basement of Lamont Library. The Documents Room is cavelike and very cool, but doesn't have easy chairs. Nonetheless you can read back issues of the New Orleans Times-Picayune to your heart's content.
Gund Hall. The graduate School of Design building, next to memorial Church, home of air-conditioned Sanders Theatre, has a good, cold, arty library where you can sit all day.
Canaday Hall. The only air-conditioned Harvard dorm, but you're either in it or you're not. Maybe you could make friends there.
Ticknor Library. One of the Best overlooked places around-It's the first floor library in Boylston Hall. You get desks, soft chairs, and a free selection of newspapers, some of which are esoteric.
