Incoming donations for the Harvard College Fund must total $1.8 million in the next two months for the fund to reach its $5-million goal, a spokesman for the fund said Friday.
Jack Schylling '72, associate director of the fund, said donations total about $3.2 million so far this year, about $100,000 less than last year at this time.
Last month, donations lagged by about $200,000, he said.
But Schylling said that "fluctuations in any one week could make that figure meaningless."
"At this point, it's impossible to predict with any kind of accuracy" whether the fund will reach its goal by its June 30 deadline, Schylling said.
Schylling said he expects "a big push" before the deadline because of an improving stock market and donations from Harvard's reunion classes.
The money is used to support undergraduate activities, including scholarships, athletics, tutorials, the Loeb drama center, and to supplement House budgets.
