Until 1969, if the Administrative Board kicked you out of Harvard or Radcliffe college you were out for keeps: people who were required to withdraw for disciplinary reasons--plagarism, say--had no appeal mechanism.

In 1969 the Ad Board started an appeal process--but the board served as its own appeal body.

There may be a new appeal system next year. The Faculty council this week considered a proposal from Dean Whitlock that a special Faculty committee--some of whose members would have previous Ad Board experience--hear appeals on required-withdrawal cases.
