Bob Goodenow, Harvard's 1974 hockey captain, is playing for the U.S. National Team, which is now competing in the World Hockey Championships in Sapporo, Japan.
Other area college players competing for the national team include Mike Eruzione and Peter Brown from Boston University and Richie Smith of Boston College. Goodenow and Eruzione are wings while Brown is a defenseman and Smith is a center.
National champion Michigan Tech placed three skaters on the squad including star goalie Jim Warden. Warden earned distinction in this year's NCAA playoffs as he held powerful Minnesota to a single goal in the championship game.
