The Radcliffe field hockey team elected Ann Dupuis '77 at its annual banquet held last Sunday night as captain for next year.
Coach Debbie Field said yesterday that Dupuis "played outstandingly well this season and demonstrated a lot of confidence and finesse in her play."
This year's co-captain Carlene Rhodes last night described her successor as a "strong, solid person. We're all used to depending on her on the field," she said.
Disappointing Record
The Radcliffe stick handlers finished their season this year with a disappointing 2-8-2 record, but Field said she was pleased with her team's performance.
"As far as morale goes, it was a great season," she said. "We were really together as a team, having gone through the agony of losing, and having dealt with it as a unit."
Maude Wood was high scorer of the season for the Crimson squad. Along with defensive sweeper Dupuis, Rhodes sparked the Radcliffe defense as goalie.
Slow Start
Rhodes attributed the team's poor record to a slow start, as it took time to learn the new techniques taught by Field, who coached at Radcliffe for the first time this fall.
Co-captain Diana Finch said last night that she thought the field hockey team would have improved its record.
"But it takes more than one year to improve," she said, "as our competition keeps getting better too."
