Anti-Crime Proposals

By Richard S. Blatt

The Quincy House Committee announced yesterday that it has submitted to Dean Whitlock four proposals designed to reduce crime in Claverly Hall.

The committee proposes to keep Claverly's rear exit locked at all times, institute a 24-hour security guard, check everyone entering for bursars cards, and move the security desk closer to the entrance.

"We hope to make Claverly life a little safer." House Committee Chairman Bruce W. Ferguson '76, said yesterday. "People at Claverly are entitled to protection of their persons and property just like anyone else in the University." he added.

Ferguson is scheduled to meet Thursday with Captain George Walsh of the Harvard Police to discuss the Quincy proposals.

Already this year, Claverly residents have been victimized by an aggravated assault, an attempted rape and several robberies.
