Rosenkrantz Named

By Steven A. Gield

Barbara G. Rosenkrantz '44 has been appointed professor in the History of Science department, the University announced yesterday.

Rosenkrantz, co-Master of Currier House, is the first woman in the department ever to be granted tenure.

Department chairman Everett I. Mendelsohn said Rosenkrantz's appointment "really meets a need" both teaching and research. Rosenkrantz's use of statistical methods in a study of Massachusetts public health policy is unprecedented, Mendelsohn said.

Dr. Jean Mayer, professor of Nutrition at the School of Public Health, who is co-editing a book of readings on public health with Rosenkrantz, called Rosenkrantz a "participatory teacher" who invites dialogue with her students.

Rosenkrantz was unavailable for comment yesterday. 6
